Welcome to The CFD Trader

Welcome to the CFD Trader Blog. I’m a part-time stock market indices trader living in Scotland, I use CFDs to trade indices such as the S&P 500 and the FTSE 100.

CFDs allow traders to profit from rising or falling prices on a huge variety of financial instruments such as stock market indices, precious metals & other commodities, individual shares and even currencies. CFDs also allow traders to speculate using leverage meaning that they can control a much larger market position than they have fund is in their account for. For example, with leverage of 100:1 a trader could control a contract for difference of £50,000 and take the profits or losses on £50,000 worth of an instrument with just £500 in their trading account. CFDs also make it possible to profit from falling prices as well as rising prices - profiting from falling prices is often referred to as “going short” or “shorting” something.

In this blog I will share my thoughts on the market, CFD trading strategies & systems, and various CFD brokers in the hope of getting some constructive feedback and hearing the thoughts of other traders.

It should be noted however that this blog does not offer any trading advice and that CFDs are meant for sophisticated investors only. CFD traders are speculating at their own risk and due to the availability of leverage and the ability to go short it is possible for one's losses to exceed their initial deposit when trading CFDs.

Thanks for reading and I hope you find this blog to be of some use…

- David.
